Maternal, Infant, and Child Health (Back)

Mother and child Maternal, Infant, and Child Health issues include infant mortality, low birth weight, breastfeeding, newborn screening, children with special health care needs, and care for women before, during and after pregnancy. As Healthy People explains, the state of our mothers, infants, and children "determines the health of the next generation and can help predict future public health challenges for families, communities, and the health care system." The goal is to improve the health and well-being of women, infants, children, and families.
